Autumn is here, and fresh beef is available!

Summer has flown by, and Autumn is here! It’s a beautiful time of year, cool and crisp with brilliant colours appearing everywhere. We’ve been enjoying the beautiful sunrises. Truly “The heavens declare the glory of God”, Psalm 19:1a.

In addition to producing beef, we’ve been working to expand our products. We currently have 6 very cute, very naughty piglets (unintentionally) free ranging. They have their own pasture, but keep finding a way into the hay field, the front yard, the cow pen, the garden… Some of us have been very busy working on the fences to keep the little rascals in. And next year we hope to have some lovely pastured pork available! We also expanded our flock of fowl to include some Ameraucanas (we really like blue eggs:) Bantams, and a few turkeys.

Our garden produced abundantly this year, above what we expected. Our second crop of celery is full grown, and we are loving it! We discovered that sweet corn doesn’t fully ripen here, unless it’s grown in a greenhouse. The children – and piglets – enjoyed the few under ripe cobs we did get. We tried quite a variety of produce and most of it grew very well.

We also were blessed with a second cut of hay, which apparently is very unusual here.

We have plenty of opportunity to invest in the farm! One of the more pressing tasks we have been doing and continue to work on is fence mending.

The animals are always anxious to explore every opportunity, and more than one early morning found us rounding up cows or steers. It is admittedly a beautiful time of day to be out herding cattle!

We are very thankful that we have more beef available! After our May order, we were told we wouldn’t be able to have any more beef processed until next year. However, we received an opening in August, and now have 2 beef available in a variety of cuts. We were also able to book 4 more for December. If you’d like to place an order, please use our contact form. We’ll be taking inventory soon, and updating our site as required. Delivery will be arranged for sometime in October, Lord willing. For now, feel free to send us any questions you have.
